Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Jennifer Lyday of Waldrep Wall Babcock & Bailey PLLC (Winston-Salem, N.C.) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony to be held on Dec. 10 at ABI’s 2021 Winter Leadership Conference at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.

Lyday is a partner at Waldrep Wall Babcock & Bailey PLLC. Prior to joining the firm, she was a partner at Waldrep LLP and an associate at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, LLP, focusing on corporate chapter 11 representations and related state court debtor and creditor representations. Lyday has represented secured creditors, distressed businesses, unsecured creditors’ committees, and trustees in business bankruptcy cases. She has also represented buyers and sellers of assets in bankruptcy, and has counseled clients in complex civil litigation, including officer and director liability, personal injury, premises liability, wrongful death and professional negligence defense. Lyday is currently on the panel of subchapter V chapter 11 trustees for the Middle District of North Carolina. In addition, she has significant pro bono experience, particularly in helping domestic violence victims obtain 50-B protection orders while working with Legal Aid of North Carolina. She also regularly represents parents of children abducted and taken into the U.S. in Hague Convention cases. Lyday received her J.D. in 2009 from William & Mary School of Law and her B.A. in 2006 from Wake Forest University.

“The 2021 honorees are a testament to the future of the insolvency profession, with exemplary accomplishments in both their careers and communities,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “We look forward to this diverse collection of young leaders propelling ABI's full range of activities forward to advance the profession.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted earlier this year by the candidates themselves or by colleagues via the initiative’s website, http://abi40under40.org. More than 200 candidates, each with outstanding records of professional achievement and community leadership, were evaluated by 20 judges. The majority of the applicants were partners, directors or managing directors at their firms.
