April 2025 Year-Over-Year Highlights
  • Bankruptcy filings including all chapters totaled 49,588, a 9% increase from the April 2024 total of 45,615.
  • Commercial chapter 11 filings decreased 20 percent to 434 in April 2025 from the 542 filings recorded in April 2024.
  • Commercial filings were 2,265, a 12 percent decrease in April 2025 compared to the 2,585 filed in April 2024.
  • Subchapter V small business elections increased 4 percent to 218 in April 2025 from the 210 filings last April.
  • Individual filings increased 10% to 47,323, up from the April 2024 individual filing total of 43,030.
