Robert Britton of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP Selected as One of ABI's 2020 "40 Under 40"

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Robert Britton of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP (New York) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. Honorees will be recognized at a special virtual ceremony in February 2021.

A partner in the firm’s Restructuring Department, Britton focuses his practice on representing debtors, equity owners, creditor groups and distressed investors in acquisitions, out-of-court restructurings and chapter 11 cases. He has a broad range of experience across a number of industries, including media and communications, airline, retail, automotive, oil & gas and steel. Britton is recognized as a “Leading Lawyer” by The Legal 500 and he was named in Lawdragon’s inaugural list of “500 Leading U.S. Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers." He was honored by the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) with its 2020 “Transaction of the Year: Large Company” award for his work in the chapter 11 case of Trident USA. Britton also received widespread praise for his work with the restructuring subcommittee for the board of directors of Sears, leading to him winning “Deal of the Year: Restructuring and Insolvency” for IFLR in 2020. Britton received his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law and his A.B. cum laude from Augustana College.

“Accomplished in both their careers and communities, the 2020 class of honorees is an inspiration for the future of the insolvency community,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “We look forward to collaborating with this diverse collection of young leaders in the full range of ABI's activities to advance the profession.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted earlier this year by the candidates themselves or by colleagues via the initiative’s website, http://abi40under40.org. More than 200 candidates, each with outstanding records of professional achievement and community leadership, were evaluated by 20 judges. The majority of the applicants were partners, directors or managing directors at their firms.
