Jane Vanlare of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP Selected for ABI’s “40 Under 40”

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Jane VanLare of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP (New York) has been selected for ABI’s “40 Under 40,” recognizing 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. This year’s awardees will be formally recognized at ABI’s 2018 Winter Leadership Conference, taking place Dec. 6-8 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz.

VanLare is a partner at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, where her practice focuses on restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy litigation. She has advised on significant transactions in the bankruptcy and restructuring space, including acting as counsel to ModSpace, the largest U.S. provider of temporary and modular office space, in the restructuring of nearly $1 billion in secured debt through a pre-packaged chapter 11 plan; SMP Ltd., a leading polysilicon manufacturer based in Korea, in connection with its request for chapter 15 recognition of its Korean insolvency proceedings as well as its adversary proceeding against SunEdison, Inc.; Overseas Shipholding Group’s successful restructuring and exit from chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which IFLR named “Restructuring Deal of the Year”; Goldman Sachs in the Lehman Brothers chapter 11 proceedings, which IFLR named “Restructuring Deal of the Year”; and Truvo Group in its chapter 11 proceedings, which IFLR named “EMEA Restructuring Deal of the Year.” VanLare has been recognized on Benchmark Litigation’s “Under 40 Hot List,” and she regularly publishes articles relating to bankruptcy and restructuring.

VanLare received her A.B. magna cum laude from Harvard College and her J.D. from Harvard Law School, where she was editor-in-chief of the Harvard Negotiation Law Review.

“The 2018 ABI ‘40 Under 40’ Class is already advancing the bankruptcy profession forward,” said ABI Executive Director Samuel J. Gerdano. “Each of these remarkable young men and women are attaining achievements not just in their professional careers, but also as leaders in their communities.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted via the initiative’s website, through which professionals nominated themselves or a colleague. Membership in ABI was not required, and more than 200 candidates were evaluated. Those selected were chosen from both large and small firms from every region of the country, and represent diverse practice areas such as law, finance, accounting, consulting, academia, government and more.
