
Alexandria, Va.— ABI announces that Joshua Searcy of Searcy and Searcy, PC (Longview, Texas) has been selected for ABI’s “40 Under 40,” recognizing 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. This year’s awardees will be formally recognized at ABI’s 2018 Winter Leadership Conference, taking place Dec. 6-8 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Searcy is a partner with Searcy and Searcy, PC, where he represents debtors and creditors in chapters 7, 11, 12 and 13, as well as chapter 7 and 11 trustees. He also represents and defends financial institutions, handles real estate matters and nonbankruptcy civil litigation, and provides general representation to a municipality, including as city prosecutor.
Searcy currently serves as secretary on the Executive Council of the Bankruptcy Section of the State Bar of Texas and is a past recipient of the Section’s Romina L. Mulloy Bossio Achievement Award. He is involved in his local community, including as a board member of Asbury House Child Enrichment Center (a nonprofit preschool for low-income children) and as a board member of the East Texas Regional Development Corp. (Northeast Texas’s SBA 504 CDC Lender).
Searcy received his B.A. in Spanish and history from Trinity University in San Antonio and his J.D. in 2005 from Baylor University School of Law.
“The 2018 ABI ‘40 Under 40’ Class is already advancing the bankruptcy profession forward,” said ABI Executive Director Samuel J. Gerdano. “Each of these remarkable young men and women are attaining achievements not just in their professional careers, but also as leaders in their communities.”
The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted via the initiative’s website, through which professionals nominated themselves or a colleague. Membership in ABI was not required, and more than 200 candidates were evaluated. Those selected were chosen from both large and small firms from every region of the country, and represent diverse practice areas such as law, finance, accounting, consulting, academia, government and more.
