Lindsay Milne of Bernstein Shur Sawyer Nelson Selected for ABI’s “40 Under 40”

Alexandria, Va. ABI announces that Lindsay Milne of Bernstein Shur Sawyer Nelson (Portland, Maine) has been selected for ABI’s “40 Under 40,” recognizing 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. This year’s awardees will be formally recognized at ABI’s 2018 Winter Leadership Conference, taking place Dec. 6-8 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Milne is a shareholder in the Business Restructuring and Insolvency Practice Group of Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer & Nelson, where she represents a broad array of corporate clients in matters including chapter 11 reorganizations, asset sales and acquisitions, bankruptcy-related litigation and appellate practice. Prior to moving to Portland, Maine, in 2015, she practiced in the Financial Restructuring group at Akin Gump in New York, where she advised borrowers, committees, indenture trustees and bondholders in complex chapter 11 cases, including in GM, Friendly’s, Kodak and Energy Future Holdings.

Milne is a member of the bars of New York and Maine, sits on the board of the New England Network of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation, serves on the advisory board for ABI’s Northeast Bankruptcy Conference, and is a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the Maine State Bar Association.

Milne received her Bachelor’s degree magna cum laude in cognitive science from Dartmouth College in 2007 and her J.D. cum laude from Fordham University in 2010, where she was an associate editor of the Fordham Urban Law Journal and a moot court competitor.

“The 2018 ABI ‘40 Under 40’ Class is already advancing the bankruptcy profession forward,” said ABI Executive Director Samuel J. Gerdano. “Each of these remarkable young men and women are attaining achievements not just in their professional careers, but also as leaders in their communities.”

The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted via the initiative’s website, through which professionals nominated themselves or a colleague. Membership in ABI was not required, and more than 200 candidates were evaluated. Those selected were chosen from both large and small firms from every region of the country, and represent diverse practice areas such as law, finance, accounting, consulting, academia, government and more.
