Douglas M. Foley Elected to ABI's Board of Directors

Alexandria, Va. — The American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) announces that Douglas M. Foley of McGuireWoods LLP (Washington, D.C.) has been elected to ABI’s Board of Directors. An ABI member since 1996, Foley is co-chair of ABI’s Legislation Committee, sits on the advisory board of ABI’s Views from the Bench conference and is a frequent speaker at ABI events. He will serve a term of three years on the 60-member ABI Board of Directors.

Foley has substantial experience representing large and small creditors and debtors in a variety of business chapter 11 proceedings throughout the U.S. He has had significant involvement in many of the largest chapter 11 cases filed in the Eastern District of Virginia, including Workflow Management Inc., Circuit City Stores Inc., Movie Gallery Inc., Rowe Furniture Inc., US Airways Group Inc., AMF Bowling Worldwide Inc., Best Products Company Inc., Heilig-Meyers Company, Trak Auto Corporation and FasMart Convenience Stores. He also chaired McGuireWoods’ Restructuring and Insolvency Department from September 2006 through August 2012. In 2011, Foley was inducted into the American College of Bankruptcy (Class XXII). He is Board Certified in Business Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification. Foley received his J.D. in 1992 from George Mason University School of Law and his B.A. in 1988 from the University of Mary Washington.
