Several new officers and directors were announced at the Annual Spring Meeting in
April. The new ABI President is <b>Richardo I. Kilpatrick</b> (Kilpatrick &amp;

Associates; Rochester Hills, Mich.). The president serves for a one-year term.
President-elect is <b>Andrew W. Caine</b> (Pachulski, Stang, Ziehl, Young &amp; Jones
P.C.; Los Angeles). Others in new positions are <b>Judy D. Thompson</b> (Poyner &amp;
Spruill LLP; Charlotte, N.C.) as Vice President of Education, <b>Michael P.
Richman</b> (Mayer Brown &amp; Platt; New York) as Vice President for Development, <b>John
D. Penn</b> (Haynes and Boone LLP; Fort Worth, Texas) as Vice President for
Publications, <b>Hon. Wesley Steen</b> (S.D. Texas) as Vice President for Research and<b>

Steven G. Golick</b> (Osler, Hoskin &amp; Harcourt; Toronto) as Vice President for
International Affairs.

</p><p><b>Bettina M. Whyte</b> (Jay Alix &amp; Associates Inc.; New York) will continue as
Treasurer. <b>Prof. G. Ray Warner</b> (visiting professor, St. John's University School
of Law) continues as Secretary. <b>Leonard P. Goldberger</b> (White &amp; Williams;
Philadelphia) continues as Vice President for Membership. <b>Keith J. Shapiro</b> (Greenberg
Traurig; Chicago) is now Immediate Past President, and <b>Ford Elsaesser</b>

(Elsaesser, Jarzabek, Anderson, Marks &amp; Elliot; Sandpoint, Idaho) is Chairman
of the Board of Directors. The ABI Board also approved the addition of eight
new members. They will be profiled in the next issue of the <i>Journal.</i>

</p><h3>University of Idaho School of Law Wins Annual Conrad B. Duberstein Moot Court Competition</h3>

<p>The University of Idaho College of Law prevailed over 22 other law school teams
to win the Ninth Annual Judge Conrad B. Duberstein National Moot Court
Competition. Idaho defeated a team from Brooklyn Law School in the final round,
which was held at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Judging the
finals were Hon. Edith Hollan Jones (5th Cir.), Hon. David R. Hansen
(8th Cir.), Hon. Sidney R. Thomas (9th Cir.), Dean Joseph Bellacosa
(St. John's School of Law and former judge of the New York Court of Appeals),
Hon. Stuart M. Bernstein (Chief Bankruptcy Judge, S.D.N.Y.) and Hon.
Conrad B. Duberstein (Chief Bankruptcy Judge, E.D.N.Y.). A number of
ABI members helped to coach teams in this year's competition, including <b>Ford
Elsaesser</b> (Idaho), <b>Patricia Redmond</b> (University of Miami), <b>Bill Leech</b>
(Mississippi College), <b>Mark Williams</b> (University of Alabama) and <b>Mary Jo Heston</b>

(University of Seattle).

</p><h3>ABI Welcomes New Staffer</h3>

<p>Christie Rogers joined our staff in March as a desktop publishing specialist. Christie
has extensive experience in the design and publications print process, most recently as
the graphic designer for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority. She created
brochures, newsletters, stationery, invitations and other media in addition to working
on the MWAA web site. She has a B.A. in public relations from Harding
University.
