ABI Welcomes 7000th Member in February
ABI marks the new century with another significant milestone: <b>Patricia A.
Staiano,</b> U.S. Trustee, Region 3, is the 7000th new member to join ABI.
Based in Philadelphia, Staiano represents Region 3, which is comprised of all
judicial districts in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Appointed by Attorney
General Janet Reno in August 1996, she is a graduate of Boston College School
of Management and received her B.S. in Finance and Marketing in 1983. She then
obtained her J.D. in 1986 from Seton Hall University School of Law.
</p><p>Prior to law school, Staiano clerked for <b>Hon. William H. Gindin,</b> chief judge
for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court (D. N.J.). After finishing her clerkship, she
was associated with several law firms in New Jersey, concentrating her practice in
bankruptcy and commercial litigation. She represented chapter 11 and chapter 7 debtors
and trustees, official committees for unsecured creditors, individual creditors and
secured lenders.
</p><p>Staiano has lectured at numerous seminars, including ABI conferences, on matters
such as bankruptcy evidentiary issues, avoidance actions, the interplay between
bankruptcy and matrimonial law, bankruptcy fraud, ethics, conflicts, and chapter
11, 7 and 13 issues. She has also testified before congress on chapter 11
matters.
