ABI RELEASES
COMPREHENSIVE MANUAL ON THE CHAPTER 13 BANKRUPTCY PROCESS
size='3'>June 11, 2009 Alexandria, Va.
— The American Bankruptcy Institute has
released Chapter 13 in
13 Chapters, which provides a comprehensive
overview of the chapter 13 process from the perspective of both debtors
and creditors. Written by consumer bankruptcy attorney
face='Times New Roman' size='3'>William J. McLeod
size='3'>(Boston) and edited by
size='3'>M. Regina Thomas of
size='3'>McCalla Raymer, LLC (Atlanta), the manual
provides insight on everything from filing preparation and debtor
education to the role of the chapter 13 trustee and the discharge of
debt, as well as things to consider before a case is converted to
chapter 13 and when to modify the terms of a chapter 13 payment plan.
Practitioners are also given advice on such issues as the timing of the
debtor’s tax filings, anticipating and addressing a debtor’s
change in circumstances post-confirmation, enforcing the debtor’s
rights against a creditor’s collection activity, and
post-discharge actions. Containing case citations, key excerpts from
relevant sections of the Bankruptcy Code and many samples of
forms, Chapter 13 in 13
Chapters is the essential reference guide that
attorneys should have at their fingertips to assist in their practice
and to share with clients to help explain the chapter bankruptcy
process.
