Kodak Locks Down Lens Licensing Deal

Submitted by webadmin on

Kodak reached a deal on Monday with lens maker Signet Armorlite Inc. for Kodak to keep its exclusive right to make and sell Kodak-branded prescription eyeglass and sunglass lenses through 2029, the Wall Street Journal reported today. In return, Signet would pay Kodak a $30.6 million up-front licensing fee. The deal, which is subject to the approval of a bankruptcy judge at a hearing next week, renews an existing licensing agreement that would otherwise expire at the end of 2014. Signet has had the exclusive right to make and sell Kodak-branded lenses for nearly two decades.
