FIFTH INTERNATIONAL INSOLVENCY SYMPOSIUM SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER IN
PARIS

size='3'>— The American Bankruptcy
Institute will hold its Fifth Annual International Insolvency Symposium
on Oct. 9, 2009, at the Westin Paris in Paris, France. The program will
feature some of the world's top professionals in restructuring speaking
on the industry's hottest topics. The Symposium will also offer
attendees the opportunity to earn up to 6.0 hours of CLE credit. The
keynote speaker for the daylong program will be

The conference will begin
with an address by ABI President

(Portland, Maine) titled “The Changing Environment for Corporate
Restructuring in the U.S.”
Program topics
include:
The 'America Now!' session will
look at current trends in U.S. insolvencies and restructurings,
including the advent of taxpayer-funded bankruptcies, and explore
current legislation and comment on developments in the financial sector
for distressed lending.
Experts from key jurisdictions
will describe the practices and procedures available to assist
distressed companies to reorganize and restructure out of court in the
“Out of Court Restructurings in Europe” session.
“The Wilmington
Effect—Competition for Cases” session will look at which
country's laws and systems will dominate in the arena of international
insolvencies.
Techniques that have been
deployed in the Lehman, Chrysler, GM, Lyondell and Nortel cases will be
scrutinized in the “Lessons to Be Learned from the International
Blockbuster Cases?” session.
“Leading and Implementing
Financial and Operational Restructurings in Europe” will feature
experts in crisis and interim management discussing their experiences
from dealing with some of Europe's most complex cases.
