CHIP BOWLES RECEIVES ABI’S HIGHEST ANNUAL
AWARD

size='3'>C.R. “Chip”
Bowles of Greenebaum Doll & McDonald PLLC
(Louisville, Ky.) with its
prestigious Annual Service Award. An ABI member
since 1992 and a member of
size='3'>ABI’s Board of Directors, Bowles
received the award in recognition for his work and leadership on
ABI’s Chapter 11 Professional Fee Study that was released last
year. Bowles was the chairman of the study’s practitioner advisory
panel and steering committee. The Service Award, ABI’s highest
membership award, is presented to the ABI member whose contributions
over the past year have been extraordinary, as determined by ABI’s
Advisory Board of past presidents. The presentation occurred at the
recent ABI Winter Leadership Conference.
The ground-breaking fee study
funded by the ABI Endowment Fund revealed that numerous factors, such as
the presence of creditors’ committees, influenced the total
professional costs of chapter 11 bankruptcy cases. While previous
studies have primarily focused on a company’s asset size, number
of firms involved in the case and the duration of the proceeding as the
primary factors influencing the total cost of professional fees,
ABI’s Chapter 11 Professional Fee Study looked at additional
factors in examining more than 1,000 chapter 11 bankruptcy cases filed
in 2004.
Bowles concentrates his practice in the area of
distressed asset sales, professional compensation, representation of
nonattorney professionals, and debtor and creditor rights. He is a
member of the American,

Louisville Bar Associations. Bowles received his B.A. with high
distinction from the University of Kentucky and his J.D. with high
distinction from the University of Kentucky College of Law.
