Alexandria, Va.— ABI announces that Joseph Boufadel of Salvato Boufadel LLP (Los Angeles) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s award program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony on Dec. 13 during ABI’s 2024 Winter Leadership Conference at The Phoenician Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Boufadel is a partner at Salvato Boufadel LLP, a boutique insolvency and business litigation firm with offices in Los Angeles and Irvine, Calif. His practice involves corporate business disputes, corporate reorganizations, fraudulent transfers and other insolvency-related matters, with an emphasis on creditors’ rights and remedies in both California state courts and bankruptcy courts. Boufadel is a certified specialist in bankruptcy law by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization. He is an active member of the insolvency community in Southern California, where he is currently serving as the vice chair for member services for the Business Law Section of the California Lawyers Association, and on the board of directors for the Los Angeles Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, for which he has produced programs for its annual bankruptcy ethics symposium since 2015 as its conference chair.
Boufadel is the recently outgoing co-chair of the Insolvency Law Committee (ILC) for the Business Law Section of the California Lawyers Association and has previously served in various capacities on its executive committee. He has also produced continuing legal education programs on issues relating to insolvency practice, including programs on recovering attorneys’ fees in bankruptcy litigation and the pursuit and pitfalls of litigation funding in bankruptcy cases for the ILC, California Bankruptcy Forum and Los Angeles County Bar Association. In addition, Boufadel has been a commissioner for the Bankruptcy Law Advisory Commission for the State Bar of California and a member of its working group, advising and assisting the California Board of Legal Specialization. Super Lawyers has named him a “Rising Star” in past years.
“We are honored to celebrate the exceptional leaders within the 2024 class as they continue to make a significant impact both in their practice and in their communities,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “As bankruptcy practice continues to evolve, this diverse collection of honorees will propel ABI and the insolvency community forward.”
The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Now in its eighth year, the goal of ABI’s “40 Under 40” award program is not simply to create a one-time ceremony, but to fully engage those selected as future leaders in the insolvency profession and to build on the initiative each year.
