Alexandria, Va.— ABI announces that Erin McKeighan of Alvarez & Marsal (Chicago) has been selected as one of ABI’s “40 Under 40,” ABI’s annual program that recognizes 40 of the top insolvency industry professionals under the age of 40. The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony to be held on Dec. 10 at ABI’s 2021 Winter Leadership Conference at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.
McKeighan is a managing director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Case Management Services in Chicago, where she specializes in information management and bankruptcy case administration. She brings more than 13 years of restructuring experience advising private and public companies. McKeighan has worked with clients across a range of industries, including media, wholesale and retail, coal, oil and gas, telecommunications and manufacturing. She has extensive expertise in end-to-end bankruptcy administration, from strategic bankruptcy preparation to the implementation of reorganization plans. This includes the planning of first-day pleadings, negotiation of asset-purchase agreements, creation of financial reports, development of the schedules and statements of financial affairs, analyses of executory contracts, performance of preference analyses and claims reconciliation, and completion of reorganization plans. McKeighan also advises on creditor issues and all facets of post-confirmation activities. She received her Bachelor’s degree in business, with a concentration in accounting and computer information systems, in 2006 from The Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
McKeighan is proud of her work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, starting as a donor then transitioning to serve as co-chair of its Women’s Board for three years. She currently serves as an active member of the board. Separately, she is a member of Young Catholic Renewal of the New York Diocese, which is heavily sponsored by restructuring advisors. A staunch proponent of diversity and promoting women throughout the industry, she regularly mentors working moms in the restructuring industry, empowering them with lessons she has learned during her career, and teaching them the tools to achieve a desirable work/life balance.
“The 2021 honorees are a testament to the future of the insolvency profession, with exemplary accomplishments in both their careers and communities,” said ABI Executive Director Amy Quackenboss. “We look forward to this diverse collection of young leaders propelling ABI's full range of activities forward to advance the profession.”
The “40 Under 40” winners are distinguished by professional achievements and service and were selected by a group of experienced professionals from ABI’s current leadership. Nominations were submitted earlier this year by the candidates themselves or by colleagues via the initiative’s website, http://abi40under40.org. More than 200 candidates, each with outstanding records of professional achievement and community leadership, were evaluated by 20 judges. The majority of the applicants were partners, directors or managing directors at their firms.
