Georgia-Based Folks Restaurant Chain Files for Bankruptcy Protection

Folks Southern Kitchen, a restaurant chain with three locations in metro Atlanta, has filed for bankruptcy protection, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The Conyers, Ga.-based company reported liabilities of between $500,000 and $1 million, and less than $50,000 in assets. Its creditors include American Express, Georgia Power and US Foods.Folks did not disclose a reason for its bankruptcy in documents filed on Monday in federal court in Atlanta. Scores of restaurants across metro Atlanta have closed and furloughed employees because of the coronavirus pandemic.
