El Paso County commissioners and the UMC board came together Thursday to work on one final proposal to offer the El Paso County Children’s Hospital (EPCH) in an effort to avoid litigation, KFOX14 reported yesterday. During a closed-door session, the two groups drafted and sent out another proposal they are calling the best offer yet. EPCH now has until this morning to agree to the deal or the two hospitals will head to litigation in October. Commissioners said that there were a few sticking points discussed in the closed-door session but couldn’t go into detail about what they were. Judge Veronica Escobar said that Friday morning was the absolute latest the court could wait for an agreement because the county must approve its budget by Monday under Texas law.
